Many years ago “the annual meeting of the General Board of Assistants of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants convened at the Kona Kai Club, San Diego, California, at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 1983, Governor General Dwight E. Twist presiding. There were seventy-seven members present, representing forty State Societies. Acting Elder General Kenneth Whittemore gave the invocation, and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Captain General Harlan C.
